Josh Barnett: ‘The WWE Doesn’t Want Me To Upend Their Show’
UFC heavyweight Josh Barnett will return to the octagon in Sept. and take on Roy Nelson in Japan.
Barnett has spent some time away from the octagon, wrestling and doing commentary for New Japan Pro Wrestling. The man Joe Rogan calls the greatest catch wrestler is an avid fan of pro wrestling but has never made his way into the WWE.
In a recent interview with Wrestling Inc., he explained why he thinks the partnership has never come to be.
“I think the biggest thing is, they don’t want someone to come in and upend their show. Working is working, and there’s a lot of great guys in WWE that I’d love to put on a match with. The thing is, wherever I go, I’m a wrestler. I’m not an entertainer or superstar or whatever. I’m a wrestler first, and I won’t concede on that.”
Do you think he’s right?
Barnett will take on Nelson in the main event at UFC Fight Night 75 on Sept. 27 in Japan.
