Longtime Heavyweight Cheick Kongo Removed From UFC Roster
After competing under the UFC banner for seven-straight years it looks as if the French-born Cheick Kongo has been released by the promotion following his most recent defeat at the hands of Roy Nelson this past Saturday.
Kongo’s profile was recently removed from the active roster at UFC.com which likely signifies the termination of his contract.
If true this release is one of the harshest in recent memory. Kongo has rotated wins and losses in his last four-fights but spanning the course of the last five-years he has only suffered defeat to the likes of Frank Mir, Cain Velasquez, Mark Hunt and the aforementioned bout with Roy Nelson last weekend.
There has been no official word on his dismissal from the promotion, but again, outside of a computer or software glitch the removal of his UFC profile only points one-direction.
