Rockhold Cornered White After UFC 187 Asking For Title Shot
Now that Vitor “The Phenom” Belfort’s opportunity has come and gone, Luke Rockhold wants the next shot at the UFC Middleweight Championship. After UFC 187’s conclusion, Rockhold apparently cornered Dana White and informed him he is ready for his title shot.
During an interview on Fox Sports 1’s post fight show, White said, “Luke Rockhold had me cornered on my way here and told he’s ready and wants the fight. He’s first in line.”
Luke Rockhold is coming fresh off a victory over Lyoto Machida earlier in April at “UFC on FOX”. Rockhold’s performance was about as dominant as anybody has had against the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion and it catapulted him into the top contender spot.
However, the previous top contender Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza also won on the “UFC on FOX” card and is campaigning for a title shot as well. “Jacare’s manager said he was ready to go. We’ll see,” White said.
