Mark Hunt on His Next Fight: ‘I Don’t Deserve to Headline’
The last time Mark Hunt stepped into the octagon, he took a serious beating at the hands of top-contender Stipe Miocic. Despite the beatdown, fans still cheered Hunt back to his feet and cheered him on as he tried to fight back at the start of every round.
Needless to say, Hunt has always been a fan favorite and the crowd has been pulling for him since his UFC debut in 2010. He is only one fight removed from fighting for the title, but Hunt revealed in a recent interview with Submission Radio that he doesn’t believe he would deserve to headline the upcoming Melbourne card.
“Of course I’d love to fight on the Melbourne card,” Hunt began. “I don’t have anybody in mind. I don’t deserve the headliner because I got beaten down and stuff, but I do. I feel like I should be on the card somewhere, and I’ll be looking to come back stronger than ever and I’ll be getting ready to battle.”
Mark Hunt has never lost a rematch, and he would take a second fight with Alistair Overeem if the UFC gave him the opportunity.
“Look man, I’ll rematch anyone. I mean I still….like I said, I feel like I’m the best fighter in the world. I mean everyone goes through a couple of losses. I’ll rematch anyone and I’ll fight with anybody, anytime. It just depends on what’s happening with how UFC see me and their offer. So we’ll see how it goes and who it is for the next fight. Like I said, I will fight with anybody.”
