McGregor Was Briefly The Betting Favorite Against Aldo
Last week, for a brief period of time, Irish fight fans were betting so heavily on Conor McGregor defeating Jose Aldo, that McGregor was at one point the betting favorite, and Aldo was the underdog.
Aldo and McGregor are set to fight at UFC 189 on July 11th in Las Vegas, and while betting lines change quite a bit leading up to a fight, it is extremely rare for a challenger to be the favorite, especially given that Aldo hasn’t lost since 2005, and was the inaugural UFC featherweight champion.
McGregor came in at -125, while Aldo was the underdog at -115 according to bettor Luca Fury.
Conor @TheNotoriousMMA McGregor (-125) is now the favorite over Jose Aldo (-115) for their @UFC 189 featherweight title fight.

This would be only the 2nd time in Aldo's career that he's the underdog. First time was him +120 against Mike Brown at WEC 44 on 11/18/2009.

Not surprisingly, money has come back on Aldo within the last hour and he is now the slight favorite at -130, while McGregor is -110.
