Mike Pierce Motivated By Sponsor Pay & Main Card Slot
“Sponsors pay more money for the primetime airtime. So yeah, it’s going to be a little different than if I’d been higher up on the card, but this was another opportunity to get myself in that spot and make more money on sponsors. Hopefully that happens… The only guys I’ve lost to are guys who have either had title shots or are going to have title shots. At the fighter meeting after weigh-ins they said, ‘You’re not happy with your place on the card? Go out there and get noticed. Do something. That was motivation for me. I wanted to go out there and win in dramatic fashion. I got that TKO from that short left, so hopefully that’s a step in the right direction to get me back on the main card.”
Last weekend 12 fight UFC veteran, Mike Pierce, opened up the UFC 162 event as the first fight on the Facebook prelims. For someone who has such a rich and impressive history with the promotion that is almost unheard of.
Following the fight, Mike Pierce expressed his discontent with the slot the UFC gave him and explained that sponsor’s pay more when you’re on the main card of a fight night.
