Munoz On Retirement: ‘I Know I Have More Left In Me, But I’m a Man of My Word’
Despite suffering three losses in a row, UFC middleweight Mark Munoz still believes he has some gas left in the tank. However, he wants to be a man of his word and retire for his family.
Munoz will be making his last stand at “UFC Fight Night 66” even though he knows he can still go. “I still know there’s more in me. I don’t think, I know,” Munoz said. “And there’s a lot of speculation with people and critics and onlookers saying, ‘Hey, I respect Mark Munoz, but he needs to retire.’— but they don’t know all the behind the scenes stuff. They don’t see me training in the gym with all the elite mixed martial artists that come through Reign Training Center.”
Munoz continued, “But I need to be a man who does what he says and says what he does.”
Luke Barnatt will be Munoz’s last opponent inside the octagon and Barnatt’s track record is scary. Even though Barnatt is on a two fight losing skid, he has a history of vicious knockouts. Munoz can stand and bang as well, but he will likely look to take the fight to the ground where he can implement his ground-and-pound.
