Nam Phan vs. Takeya Mizugaki Booked for UFC Fight Night 33

A bantamweight bout has been added to the UFC’s return trip to Australia in the form of Nam Phan vs. Takeya Mizugaki.

UFC officials announced the bout this afternoon.

UFC Fight Night 33 is set to go down from the Queensland capital at Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Dec. 7. In the main event heavyweights Mark hunt and Antonio Bigfoot Silva will square off for free on either Fox sports 1 or Fox Sports 2, but broadcast plans have yet to be announced.

Phan is apparently making the trip down a division for this fight in what is likely an attempt to save his career as a UFC fighter. The TUF season 12 veteran has gone just 2-4 since his stint on the hit reality show and is in desperate need of a win.

Mizugaki will look to keep his win streak alive in this contest and stretch his run to four straight. His last two bouts against Bryan Caraway and Erik Perez both came way of split-decision.
