Nate Diaz will make his return to the octagon after almost a year of absence when he squares off with Michael Johnson at “UFC on FOX 17”, UFC confirmed on Monday night. “UFC on FOX 17” will take place on December 19, 2015 in Orlando, Florid at the Amway Center.
Stockton’s Diaz has amassed an impressive record during his twenty-fight career with the UFC. Before getting sidetracked by losses to current champion Rafael dos Anjos, Josh Thomson and former champion Benson Henderson, Diaz earned big wins over the likes of Gray Maynard, Jim Miller and current contender Donald Cerrone!
Michael Johnson is looking to bounce back from a controversial loss to Beneil Dariush at “UFC Fight Night: Teixeira vs. Saint Preux” earlier in August. Fans and fighters alike thought Johnson had the bout won by way of unanimous decision, but it was Dariush who earned the split decision win.
Nate Diaz is currently ranked fourteenth in the lightweight rankings while Johnson is in the top five. If Diaz wins at “UFC on FOX 17”, he could be catapulted into the top ten.
“UFC on FOX 17” also hosts the UFC Lightweight Championship fight between Rafael dos Anjos and Donald Cerrone. Who do you think will walk out of these lightweight fights with their hands raised?
