Jimi Manuwa Fought With Torn Ligaments in Knee
At UFC Krakow, which took place on UFC Fight Pass on Saturday, lightweight Jimi Manuwa won a tough decision over Jan Blachowicz. Manuwa, who has never gone to a decision before in his career, had a pretty good reason for his uncharacteristic performance.
At the post-fight press conference Manuwa told the media that he suffered an injury not very long ago, and actually didn’t even get cleared to fight until last week.
“I almost didn’t make it to the fight. I only got cleared, like, literally last week to fight.
“I had a bad knee injury. I tore my meniscus, and MCL and ACL as well. They told me I shouldn’t fight, and I said no, I’ve got to fight. I can’t pull out of the fight. So you know, it was a big decision for me and the team, but we had to go through with it.”
