UFC Prepping Legal Team To Fight Lawsuit
The UFC has begun the lengthy process of interviewing law firms to defend their company against a recently filed lawsuit that could see the UFC paying $100s of millions.
According to The American Lawyer, the UFC has begun interviewing law firms to defend them against the suit.
Among the list of firms, and lawyers the UFC will be looking into include:
William Issacson of Boles, Schiller & Flexner, who recently defended Apple from a $1 billion case that went back to 2006. Issacson has also defended the NCAA from an anti-trust case that likely could have cost former college athletes over $50 million.
Stephen Axinn of Axinn, Veltrop & Harkrider. This name partner in the Axinn, Veltrop, & Harkrider firm has worked with the UFC before, defending the promotion against a Federal Trade Commission Investigation which came after the UFC acquired Strikeforce.
Also mentioned was another firm close to the UFC. Makan Delrahim of Brownstein, Hyatt, Farber, & Schreck. The firm has worked with the UFC since 2008, handling what is being called “advocacy work”. Since 2008 the UFC has reportedly paid nearly $2.5 million to the firm for their advising services in the internet gaming and copyright piracy fields.
