Nevada Governor’s Office Will Not ‘Second Guess’ NSAC’s Five Year Suspension Of Nick Diaz

Everyone and their mother has come out in support of UFC fighter Nick Diaz following his controversial five-year suspension, handed down by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

There’s a White House Petition still going around, steadily gaining more votes by the day, and then there are fighters who have decided to boycott Nevada, saying that they will not fight there because of the ruling.

According to a report on Wednesday’s UFC Tonight, the Nevada Governor’s office has responded to questions about the Diaz suspension and sent this statement, not directly from the Governor, but from his office.

“The Governor puts great thought into his appointments and has an expectation that his appointees will represent the state with integrity and serve as fair and impartial members of their respective board or commission. The Nevada State Athletic Commission has sole jurisdiction over licensing of its contestants. The Governor’s Office monitors all board and commissions to ensure they are in compliance with state law but does not second guess individual rulings within the boundaries of statutory authority.”

So basically he doesn’t plan on doing anything. Diaz recently revealed that the UFC has put him in contact with their legal team in order to help him with fighting the suspension, so, there’s that. It really seems like he has a great shot at getting this thing overturned, or at the very least reduced.
