Nick Diaz Announces First Show for WAR MMA for June 22nd in Stockton, California
Since Nick Diaz (26-9, 1 NC) lost to UFC welterweight champion, Georges St-Pierre, back in November, he has gone off on a career tangent. Diaz first made waves as he applied for a promoters license, as a basic website was spotted online.
We recently shared news of Diaz looking for a June 22nd debut but this date has now been made official. The card will take place in Stockton, California. Viewing options for those outside of the ‘209’ haven’t yet been released but word is said to be coming shortly.
On the card, two UFC vets, Daniel Roberts and Anotonio Banuelos make an appearance on the fight card. Neither fighter was wildly successful in the UFC as Roberts went 4-4 and Banuelos fought just once in the Octagon after the WEC merger, losing to Miguel Torres by decision.
According to a press release received by MMAFighting.com, the rules are Unified and fights will take place in a ring, similar to that of Pride FC. Elbows will be prohibited.
Here is the official fight card so far:
Daniel Roberts vs. Justin Baesman
Antonio Banuelos vs. Benny Vinson
Caleb Mitchell vs. Evan Esguerra
Roy Boughton vs. Liron Wilson
Mike Persons vs. Clayton McKinney
Darin Cooley vs. Cody Gibson.
