“OFFICIAL”
A Bantamweight title fight, between champion Ronda Rousey and UFC number one contender Cat Zingano, has been booked for the UFC’s 2015 opener.
The two female combatants will be designated to co-main event status, sharing the spotlight with Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier, on the UFC 182 pay-per-view fight-card .
UFC 182 goes down from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The pay-per-view event takes place on January 3, 2015.
Zingano originally earned her shot at the UFC strap, by taking out Miesha Tate in the third round of her UFC debut via TKO (strikes). The undefeated prospect was then injured and forced on the shelf for an extended period of time. To add to her ailments, while rehabbing her knee, Cat’s spouse tragically committed suicide.
It took her 18-months to return action, but when she did, Cat Zingano brutally stopped Amanda Nunes (strikes) to reclaim her number one contender seat.
Ronda Rousey is one of the sport’s biggest stars. Having amassed a perfect 10-0 record, with all her wins coming via stoppage (9 in the first rnd), Rousey is the champ for a reason. She last saw action taking out Alexis Davis with strikes in just 16 seconds.
