Paige VanZant: ‘I’ll Be Ready When The Title Shot Comes’
UFC strawweight and rising star Paige VanZant says she isn’t trying to rush into a title shot, but if it was offered, she would definitely be ready.
VanZant recently took out TUF 20 cast member Alex Chambers at this past Satruday’s UFC 191, where she beat her up for almost three full rounds before locking in the fight ending armbar in the third.
VanZant went into that fight as a massive favorite, ranked 7th, and showed just why that was the case. The big question is what’s next for the young Team Alpha Male fighter? Even Dana White seemed to think that she was still growing in the sport and learning, but admitted it’s hard to hold someone back when they’re beating everyone put in front of them.
Here’s what VanZant had to say about the possibility of a title shot, at the post fight press conference.
“When the title shot is there for me, I definitely will be ready for it.”
“Of course I’m not going to rush anything. This is my time in the UFC, this is my career, and I want to enjoy every second of it. It is such a blessing to be a part of the UFC so I’m going to enjoy every second.
“Of course, I’m going to listen to the UFC. Whatever they think is the next step for me, I’m going to listen to them.”
