Report: Former Bantamweight Champ Renan Barao Announces Move To 145
Former UFC bantamweight champion Renan Barao has decided to move up to featherweight (145lbs).
That’s according to Matheus Aquina, (a fighter manager best known for representing Bellator’s Pitbull brothers) who made the announcement this morning on Twitter:
“Renan Barao said on a local TV news that he’s moving up to Featherweight and looking to fight in December.”
Barao had gone 1-2 in his past three fights at bantamweight, suffering two TKO losses to current champ T.J. Dillashaw during that time.
The former bantamweight kingpin has always struggled when cutting weight to make 135lbs (most notably passing out from his weight cut in the lead up to UFC 177), that process should be easier and less dangerous at featherweight.
