Ronda Rousey’s nutritionist Mike Dolce addresses concerns after loss to Holly Holm

Did you hear about Ronda Rousey’s weight cut going into her fight with Holly Holm? What about the physical shape she was in? Did you hear that she was out of shape?

Excuses were coming out of the woodworks on how Ronda Rousey could have possibly lost to Holly Holm at UFC 193. Some were quick to point fingers at Mike Dolce, Rousey’s nutritionist for the fight, who addressed her weight cut and shape while talking to Submission Radio (transcribed by Bloody Elbow):

“Ronda was in excellent shape. She had an amazing training camp, there were no discernable changes to her meal plan or her weight cut,” he said. “She was actually two pounds lighter this fight week than she was the fight week vs Bethe Correia.”

“So you could pull back and look at the data points. The data points show that Ronda should have had a much better performance. But what the variable is, is Holly Holm,” he stated. “Holly Holm did a great job on that night.”

It was clear that Holm outworked Rousey in the title fight scoring a vicious knockout in the second round that sent shockwaves across the globe. With Dolce admitting Rousey was properly prepared to be her best for the fight, what does that mean for a rematch between the two? Will Rousey ever be able to hone her skills to best Holm?
