Rothwell ‘denied’ opportunity to fill in for Cro Cop
It looks like Ben Rothwell’s wishes are continuing to just go up in smoke. Rothwell revealed on Twitter that he was denied the spot from the UFC to fill in for Mirko Filipovic after Filipovic announced he had to pull out of UFC Fight Night 79. Filipovic was set to fight against Anthony Hamilton, but due to an injury will not be able to fight, ultimately leading Filipovic’s decision to retire from MMA.
I already asked to fill in for @CroCopOfficial @ufc and that was denied… Sorry fight fans

Rothwell’s last scheduled fight was against Stipe Miocic at UFC Fight Night 76 where Miocic also pulled out due to injury. Rothwell then campaigned for a fight with former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski, but was overlooked and Miocic and Arlovski were booked for UFC 195.
UFC Fight Night 79 is scheduled to take place Nov. 28 at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul, Korea where the event will stream on UFC Fight Pass.
