Rousey: ‘I’ll Deal With Cyborg Later’
Ahead of UFC 183 last night, UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey spoke on Fox Sports 1 to discuss her upcoming title bout against Cat Zingano at UFC 184 on February 27th.
Prior to the interview, it was announced that Chris Weidman had injured his shoulder, and would not be able to compete in the main event of UFC 184 against Vitor Belfort. Because of this, Rousey vs. Zingano was promoted from the co-main event to the main event.
Rousey also spoke about a potential matchup with Cris Cyborg, due to the fact that Cyborg will be fighting in the same town, the night before UFC 184 goes down.
“I’m just really focused on Cat and that’s it. Cyborg has tried to show up at my weigh-ins before, Which I didn’t even notice. She showed up at the [Sarah] Kaufman weigh-ins [A 2012 Strikeforce fight in San Diego] and tried jumping up and getting my attention, but I was so focused on Kaufman I didn’t even see her.”
“I’ll deal with Cyborg when it’s time to deal with her, when she comes around, and when she’s tired of dragging this whole thing out. As you’ve seen with Pacquiao and Mayweather, sometimes its a good thing to build up the anticipation. So I’m going to beat Cat now and I’ll worry about her later.”
