Rousey would rather DIE than tap out
Ronda Rousey previously stated that she would rather die in the Octagon than tap out. The comment garnered quite a bit of criticism from fans, however to this day Rousey still stands by her comment.
In a recent interview for ABC Australia Rousey was asked about the situation.
“You once said you are willing to die in there. Is that true? You wouldn’t tap out first?”
She explained:
“No,”
“Once I got caught in a neck crank, in my first UFC fight. And it was in that moment that I had to make that decision. Possibly if I didn’t tap out, I could hurt my neck, I could be a quadriplegic. Anybody else, anyone sane, would have tapped out.
“But in that moment, it mattered too much to me. It didn’t even cross my mind to give up.”
The neck crank Rousey is referring to occurred in her fight against Liz Carmouche in the first ever UFC women’s bantamweight fight.
