“Rumble” Johnson on Next Opponent: ‘So What If He’s Not Top Ten!’
Anthony “Rumble” Johnson is looking to bounce back from a disappointing loss to Daniel Cormier at UFC 187 in May and another knockout win will give him the momentum he needs for another run at the title.
Normally, a fighter ranked first in his weight class under the champion would face someone in the top five. “Rumble”, however, is set to face number twelve-ranked Jan Blachowicz at UFC 191. Even though Blachowicz is a former KSW Light Heavyweight Champion, he is only 1-1 inside the octagon and has not defeated anybody in the top ten.
While it seems like an easy fight for Johnson, he will not be taking the former KSW champion lightly. “Rumble” was given a similar opportunity when he fought Phil Davis, and he wants to give Blachowicz his chance to shine at UFC 191!
Everybody forgot that I was ranked 14 when I fought Phil Davis. I'm fighting Jan because he deserves a chance just like I was given one!
