Sonnen Calls Diaz Suspension A Lifetime Ban

Former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen has been pretty vocal in supporting Nick Diaz, after his five year suspension was announced.

He was one of the first to take to social media and show support for the fighter, even selling custom T-shirts to help out.

Since then everyone and their mother has come forward, protesting the suspension and calling for change. In a recent interview with The MMA Hour, Sonnen again spoke up and this time reiterated that the five year suspension is essentially just another way of saying a lifetime ban.

“I wish there would be some kind of explanation. When a guy stubs his toe and Nick did — Nick’s wrong here — but there is a question of, how wrong was he? What kind of violation is this? Was this a lifetime ban? You can call it five years, but as you know, that’s a lifetime ban in this sport.”
