Takanori Gomi Unsure About Fighting Future Following Loss To Jury
Following his quick KO loss to Myles ‘Fury’ Jury at UFC Fight Night Japan yesterday morning, Takanori Gomi admits that he is contemplating retiring.
Gomi recovered from a loss to Diego Sanchez in March of 2013 to pick up a unanimous decision win over Issac Vallie-Flagg at UFC 172 in April of 2014. That victory brought us to this weekend, where Gomi was stopped by strikes in the first round of his bout against Myles Jury.
‘The Fireball Kid’ spoke to media members following his loss to Jury.
“His striking was very effective, he had a very good strategy. I’m very sorry for my performance. I’m glad I had this fight with Myles. He’s a good fighter and he deserved that win tonight. Right now, I just need to sit down and contemplate the fight. It’s my 36th birthday in a few days and I’m going to relax and take some time to think about my future.”
Do you want to see Gomi return to fighting, or is it time for the former PRIDE FC champion to call it a career?
