Teammate: Jon Jones ‘being positive’, back to training every day
Jon Jones may be forced to sit on the sidelines because of his court case stemming from his April hit and run incident, but that doesn’t mean he has to stay out of the gym. The former, now suspended, UFC champion is back to training at the Jackson-Winkeljohn MMA gym in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
“He trains every day. He’s always joking around and laughing,” “Bones’” teammate Igor Araujo told MMA Fighting. “I spoke with him the other day and he’s cool, being positive. The coach tells us what to do and he trains normally, every single day. He’s in shape, too.”
The day Jones returned to the gym, he was treated just like everybody else. When it came time for a the mats to be cleaned after a training session, one of the coaches appointed Jones to complete the task. “On the first day Jones returned to the gym, they put him to clean the mat when the training session was over,” Araujo shared. “They always pick someone to clean the mat after the training, and he didn’t complain he had to do it. He’s a nice guy, and a look up to him inside the gym.”
