The UFC Adds Three Big Names To UFN: Hunt vs. Nelson
The UFC will return to Japan in September for UFC Fight Night: Hunt vs. Nelson event. It appears that the UFC is planning on giving the Japanese fans a huge night of fights featuring plenty of fan favorites and local talent. It’s safe to say that Mark Hunt is one of those favorites. As for the local guys, the UFC is planning to have three huge names fight on the card.
According to Dave Meltzer of MMA Fighting, the UFC will put Takanori Gomi (35-9, 1 NC), ‘Kid’ Yamamoto (18-6, 1 NC), and Yoshihiro Akiyama (13-5, 2 NC) on the card that takes place at Saitama Super Arena. Opponents have not yet been announced.
Gomi is the only one of these fighters that has fought in the last two years. His last fight coming against Isaac Vallie-Flagg at UFC 172 back in April, where he pulled off a close decision win. Due to injuries the other two men, Yamamoto and Akiyama have been out of the octagon for a while. Both men have struggled in their most recent endeavors. Yamamoto is 0-3 in the UFC and Akiyama is 1-4 in the UFC.
UFC Fight Night: Hunt vs. Nelson takes place on September 20. in Saitama, Japan.
