UFC 176 Ticket Pre-Sale Numbers High Despite Aldo’s Injury
The rematch between Chad Mendes and Jose Aldo was supposed to take place August 2nd at UFC 176, however Jose Aldo suffered a neck and shoulder injury during training and will no longer be able to fight on the card.
Dana White said this past Sunday that the fight will “eventually” happen, given that Aldo will only be out for 45 days. However Dana didn’t say what the promotions plan was to fill the main event, and brushed off the question, suggesting he would deal with it at a later date.
Our friends over at MMAJunkie.com obtained a report from an anonymous source that ticket sales for the event are at the $800,000 mark despite Aldo withdrawing from the bout.
No news as to who will be replacing Aldo vs. Mendes in the main event, but with less than a month left before the event, we can expect an announcement soon.
