UFC 178 Headliners Demetrious Johnson And Chris Cariaso Randomly Drug Tested

Chris Cariaso Wins

In an effort to clean up the sport, the UFC has been increasing the volume of random out of competition drug tests. The latest fighters to get tested were none other than UFC 178 headliners Demetrious Johnson and Chris Cariaso.

Cariaso recalls the situation to MMAjunkie:

“They showed up at my door and said, ‘Alright, we’re here.’ I had just got back from my run. I think it’s pretty cool that they’re doing such a great job of trying to clean up this sport. Ali Bagautinov, the last challenger (to Johnson’s title), got caught blood doping and stuff. So I think it’s good to test.”

“It’s definitely a good thing for the sport. There’s a lot of talk out there about people on PEDs and stuff like that. I definitely think you don’t need it for this sport. You’ve just got to go out there and train hard, and you’ll get the results you need.”

UFC 178 takes place September 27th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena only on Pay-Per-View.

What are your thoughts on the increased number of out-of-competition drug tests?
