UFC 187 Results: John Dodson Stays Busy, Picks Up Big UD Win Over Makovsky
Time for the little guys!
In the featured fight of the FOX Sports 1 Prelims John Dodson took on Zach Makovsky.
Dodson showed his power early, landing a nice leg kick that caused Makovsky to almost fall. Makovsky shot in a couple times early but Dodson showed quick sprawling skills and avoided them. The two men both looked patient, with Makovsky really trying for the takedown often. Dodson was able to avoid all takedowns and landed some good right hands. Dodson tried for a takedown of his own late in the round but was unsuccessful.
Makovsky landed a good right hand early in the second. Dodson got poked in the eye and the referee came in to stop it but he waved them off and said lets keep going. The two traded shots, with Makovsky landing some good kicks. Dodson landed several hard shots when the two would come together. Dodson came forward and swung with a huge left hand but missed. Dodson threw a leg kick but Makovsky caught it and took him down. Not for long though because Dodson managed to reverse positions and get on top. Dodson stood up and helped Makovsky up so that they could fight on the feet some more. The round ended.
The third looked similar to the first two rounds. Each fighter landed shots but nothing significant. Dodson tried to blitz in t one point but didn’t land anything. Makovsky clinched Dodson on the cage briefly before they separated. Dodson caught a kick and took Makovsky down, but only for a moment. Makovksy came in and tried for a clinch but Dodson kneed him to the body and brushed him off. Lots of action in the fight but nothing really significant.
RESULTS: John Dodson wins via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
