UFC 189 Results: Thomas Almeida Lands Devastating Flying Knee, KO’s Pickett

The first fight on UFC 189’s main card was between bantamweights Brad Pickett and undefeated Thomas Almeida.

Almeida came out patient, Pickett threw the first strikes, connecting with a few leg kicks. Moments later Pickett cracked Almeida. Pickett moved in. They clinched on the cage. Pickett landed knee that dropped Almeida.

He got to his feet, then Almeida dropped Pickett with a big elbow. Pickett was able to get to his feet. Almeida was busted up and bloodied. Almeida again connected with a big punch. At the end of the round Almeida connected with again.

In the second they picked up where they left off. Early in the round Almeida threw a perfectly timed flying knee that put Pickett’s lights out instantly. It was probably one of the greatest knee KO’s of all time.

RESULT: Almeida wins via KO (knee) at :29 of round 2
