UFC 190 Results: Cummins Dominates Cavalcante and Picks Up 3rd Round TKO
Most assumed if Patrick Cummins were to pick up the win against Rafael Cavalcante, it would be because of his elite wrestling skills. Tonight, Cummins showed evolution as he proved he has what it takes in the ground-and-pound department to stop a top ten light heavyweight!
Despite being bloodied and bruised when it was all said and done, Cummins dominated the entire fight on the ground and let his presence be known in the form of strikes. Whenever Cavalcante made it back to his feet, it was only a matter of time before his back was on the canvas again.
Cummins landed another takedown in the second round and postured over Cavalcante who nailed him with an upkick. Blood poured from the nose and eye of Cummins and his cuts were looked at, but the referee and doctor allowed the fight to continue. Cummins secured the ten points of round two by keeping the fight on the mat, driving through Cavalcante’s face with his fists.
Cavalcante was taken down again in the third and final round, but this would be the final time he was placed on his back as Cummins caught him off guard with a brutal elbow.
Cavalcante was clearly knocked for a loop and Cummins followed up with five elbows, forcing the referee to step in and wave the fight.
