UFC Bans ‘War Machine’ Nickname Ahead Of Fight Night 51

The War Machine moniker was expected to hit the Octagon this evening in Brazil, but that’s not happening.

UFC officials have decided to not let tonight’s UFC Fight Night 51 competitor, Wendell Oliveira use his longtime nickname of ‘War Machine’.

Earlier this week the fighter told us he would not change his name, but that decision appears to have been taken out of his hands.

Of course, the War Machine nickname was made famous for Jonathan Kopenhaver, the world’s most violent MMA Fighter, who is currently awaiting trial for the beating of his ex-girlfriend Christy Mack.
