UFC FN 50 Results: Skelly Defeats Soriano, Picks Up 2nd Win in 13 Days

Thirteen days after his first octagon victory, Chas Skelly volunteered to face Sean Soriano after Andre Fili was forced to pull out of the fight. Tonight, Skelly and Soriano kicked off “UFC Fight Night 50” with their featherweight bout and it was a competitive opener.

Skelly was relentless in his attack on the ground but could never wrap up a submission. Soriano found himself on the wrong end of full mount and back control often, but fought off rear naked chokes by simply turning out of them.

Skelly gassed quickly and did not have a lot of power to work with while cranking his chokes. Fighting just thirteen days earlier against Tom Ninimaki, it was reasonable to see why he gassed so quickly.

Soriano looked decent while standing, but he spent so much time suffering on the ground there was no chance for him to sway the momentum in his favor.

Chas Skelly’s stock has sky rocketed with two consecutive UFC victories in thirteen days and we may see him in a high profile fight next time.
