UFC on FOX 13 Results: Cejudo Wows in UFC debut, Shutsout Kimura To Earn Decision
Olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo finally made his UFC debut, and he didn’t disappoint.
In the opening frame, it was all Cejudo, who, instead of relying on his world-class wrestling pedigree, opted to best his opponent with clean, accurate striking. Midway through the round, Cejudo dropped Kimura with a solid right-hand but opted to let Kimura up when the finish did not materialize.
The second round was more of the same. ‘A Complete Shutout’ ushered UFC commentator, Joe Rogan, at the conclusion of the second frame. Kimura, visibly beaten showing extreme wear on his face.
In the third, Kimura came out with more urgency, but the excellent striking technique from Cejudo was the story of this fight and he won.
In the post fight interview, Cejudo asked the UFC to please let him return to 125 pounds, “…because I know I’m the best,” he said.
FINAL RESULT: Henry Cejudo def. Dustin Kimura via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
