Some big news on the UFC PED issue broke today. The UFC has hired Jeff Novitzky as Vice President of Athlete Health and Performance.

According to the UFC Novitzky will, “Spearhead the development of the organization’s clean initiative education program designed to ensure that every athlete competes with natural ability on an even playing field.”

Novitzky has worked for the United States Food ad Drug Administration (FDA) and for the Internal Revenue Service, investigating some of the biggest names in sports like Barry Bonds and Lance Armstrong. Needless to say this guy is big deal when it comes to dealing with steroid and PEDs.

Here’s what the newest member of the UFC team had to say, “I am thrilled to be joining a world-class organization like UFC, that is committed to taking the necessary steps to ensure all of its athletes are competing in a clean sport. I am confident that UFC will be able to create a new gold standard testing program and implement it so a sustainable and level playing field is provided for all athletes.”

Do you think this is a step in the right direction toward a clean sport?
