UFC on FOX 17 Results: Alistair Overeem TKO’s Junior dos Santos

Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos (17-4 MMA) squared off with former Strikeforce champion Alistair Overeem (40-14 MMA) in the co-main event of ‘UFC on FOX 17’ in Orlando, Florida.

Round one begins and the big men touch gloves. Both fighters start slow and try to find their range. Leg kick misses for dos Santos. Overeem lands a body kick. “JDS” throws a head kick but it’s blocked. Overeem misses with a straight left. Knee from Overeem followed by a good shot from Junior. Good straight left for Overeem and he follows up with a leg kick. Another good left lands for “The Reem”. Junior’s nose is bleeding. He attempts a spinning back fist that misses to close out round one.

Round two begins and dos Santos tags “The Reem” with a low blow. Alistair is given time to recover and then a restart. Big body kick lands for Overeem and he follows up with a leg kick. Another big kick to the body lands for Overeem. “JDS” attempts a spinning kick but misses. A decent straight left finds a home for Alistair. Nice knee lands for dos Santos. Overeem is moving well and keeping Junior from getting inside. Good leg kicks from “The Reem” and then he throws another to the body of “JDS”. Huge combination from Overeem lands. “Cigano” is having trouble finding his range and is now bleeding out of both his nose and eye. Big shot from dos Santos and then a couple of body kicks. Huge left for Overeem. “JDS” is down. Hammer fists! It’s Over!
