Cain Velasquez interview

“UFC 188” caused the biggest shakeups in the official UFC rankings in recent memory. Cain Velasquez stepped into the octagon with his UFC Heavyweight Championship on Saturday night, but walked out with empty hands and a bloody nose as Fabricio Werdum submitted him in the third round.

As a result of this, Velasquez dropped six spots in the pound for pound rankings. Ronda Rousey, TJ Dillashaw, Fabricio Werdum all benefited from his drop.

Werdum jumped up EIGHT spots in the pound for pound rankings, and he took the top of the heavyweight rankings by knocking Velasquez down a peg.

Eddie Alvarez also jumped up to the fourth spot, knocking down five fighters in the process. Alvarez picked up a split decision win over now fifth ranked Gilbert Melendez.
