Urijah Faber vs. Francisco Rivera set for UFC 181 in Las Vegas
Urijah Faber (31-7 MMA, 7-3 UFC) will return to the octagon this December when he faces Francisco Rivera (10-3 MMA, 3-2 UFC) at UFC 181 in Las Vegas.
UFC officials announced the booking on Wednesday evening.
Perennial UFC bantamweight contender, Urijah Faber, has won 6 of his past 8 octagon bouts, with both of his losses in that time coming to former title holder Renan Barao. “The California Kid” was most recently seen in action at July’s UFC 175 event in Las Vegas, where he earned a third-round submission win over Alex Caceres. The former WEC champion is eyeing another win streak to put him back into title contention.
Meanwhile, Francisco Rivera recently had his five fight win streak halted by Takeya Mizugaki at May’s UFC 173 event in Las Vegas. Prior to the setback, Rivera was coming off a TKO win over George Roop which he earned at the UFC’s “Fight For The Troops 3” event in Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
UFC 181 takes place December 6 live from the Mandalay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The pay-per-view event is headlined by a welterweight title fight rematch featuring current champ Johny Hendricks taking on #1 contender Robbie Lawler.
