Fourth-ranked Ricardo Lamas stormed into the octagon at “UFC Fight Night 78” on Saturday evening with a point to prove: He has what it takes to hang with anybody the brass puts in front of him. Diego Sanchez may not be in his prime anymore, but he is surely a test for anybody looking to make a name for themselves in the cage.

Lamas controlled the fight and was able to pick up the unanimous decision when all was said and done. The two assumed the role as co main-eventers and could were the seventh consecutive decision of the night, so the crowd was getting a little restless in Monterrey, Mexico. Regardless, this is Lamas’ first win since losing to top-contender Chad Mendes earlier this year in April.
