Werdum and Silva pressuring UFC to fight in Brazil

It’s no secret that the UFC frequently travels to Brazil to host events given the Brazilian crowd’s passion for the sport of Mixed Martial Arts.

According to UFC Brazilian Office GM Giovanni Decker, former UFC middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva and UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum are both pressuring the UFC to make their next fights in Brazil.

Decker spoke to Portal Vale Tudo as translated by BloodyElbow:

“There is a lot of speculation. Werdum talked about it and so did Anderson. I hope it happens, I would be the happiest guy in the world, but honestly there’s nothing settled yet. It’s pure speculation. Werdum has been putting a lot of pressure as he wants to defend his belt in Brazil. Anderson has also been pressuring, because he wants his comeback to be in Brazil. I personally would also like to bring those fights to Brazil, but I would be giving you false hopes if I said it’s a closed deal, because that’s far from being the case. Honestly, there’s a 40% chance of happening and a 60% chance of not happening. We must be realists.”

Silva is currently serving a year long suspension which is set to expire at the end of January, while there is still no word on when Fabricio Werdum and Cain Velasquez will have their rematch.

Velasquez, who lost the title to Werdum at UFC 188 in June, stated recently that the rematch could possibly go down in March in Brazil, however nothing is set in stone.
