White Confirms Return To Abu Dhabi in 2014 Among Global Expansion Plans
The UFC has not returned to the UAE since their inaugural Abu Dhabi event in 2010.
I remember it just like it was yesterday. UFC 112 was the event BJ Penn lost his UFC lightweight title and the first time we saw Anderson Silva act a little weird in a title defense. (Silva vs. Maia)
During yesterday’s media luncheon in Los Angeles, UFC president Dana White, stated that his promotion will return to the United Arab Emirates this year and will also hit other overseas markets as part of their continued plan for growth and global domination.
Check it:
“We’re going back to Abu Dhabi this year. We’re moving into other markets. We just expanded into China. We’re on TV in China now. We just cut new deals in Europe. We just cut a new deal in the Middle East on television. We have athletes representing 37 countries. We broadcast our events in 28 languages. And we’ve established major broadcasting partnerships in 145 countries around the world. And in 2014, you’ll see more live events. England, Sweden, Poland, Ireland, Turkey, and most importantly, we will be back in Germany in 2014.”
