UFC President Dana White was blown away just like the rest of us while watching Robbie Lawler defend his championship against Rory MacDonald at “UFC 189”.

In the weeks leading up to the fight, it was clear that Lawler and MacDonald’s fight was taking a backseat to the mega main-event that was supposed to be Conor McGregor and Jose Aldo. It had all the potential to be the sleeper fight of the night, but it blew away expectations and could be in the running for fight of the year.

During the UFC 189 post fight press conference, UFC President Dana White confessed that it may be the best fight he’s ever seen. When talking about the “FOTN” bonus, he said it may be “Fight of the EVER.”

Lawler and MacDonald left it all in the octagon and went blow for blow in a five round war that saw MacDonald succumb to strikes in the first minute of the final round. Although MacDonald’s face was severely busted open and bruised, he was on his way to winning a unanimous decision if he had made it out of the final round conscious.

Instead, Lawler cracked MacDonald with one stiff shot too many and MacDonald fell to his back where Lawler finished him. Despite his loss, MacDonald’s stock only went up as he showed he has an unbelievable chin and an insane amount of heart.
