White: Rampage Has ‘Some Legal Troubles Ahead Of Him’
Last night at UFC 186, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson returned to the octagon after two years and won via unanimous decision against Fabio Maldonado.
It wasn’t his best performance by any stretch of the imagination, but White said, during a post-fight interview with Ariel Helwani, that he’s not surprised with his performance.
“Rampage has been gone for a long time. This is the big leagues. I don’t know if you remember but when Rampage first came to the UFC and fought Marvin Eastman – very similar performance in that fight. Now that Rampage is back here, he knows what he’s got to do to stay here.”
Of course, the legal issues leading up to UFC 186 have been well documented. Rampage is in some hot water for leaving Bellator and signing with the UFC without informing Bellator first. His fight at UFC 186 was canceled at one point due to a ruling from the judge, that was later overturned. But just because he was able to fight last night, doesn’t mean he’s in the clear according to White.
“I think he does. I think he’s definitely got some legal troubles ahead of him, so we’ll see how this thing plays out.”
