With Stipe Out, Rothwell Pulled From Dublin Card, Eyeing Reems Slot Against JDS
It was announced yesterday that UFC heavyweight Stipe Miocic had suffered an injury and had to pull out of his scheduled fight with Ben Rothwell, which was set for Oct. 24 in Dublin, Ireland.
It was reported that the UFC was looking for a last minute replacement to take on Rothwell, but now it looks like that is no longer the case.
Rothwell talked to MMAFighting and told them that on Wednesday the UFC told him he would not be fighting on the card at all, after their attempts to find a replacement failed.
Here’s what Rothwell had to say about the disappointing news:
“No hard feelings towards Stipe at all. I’ve been on the other side of the coin. These things happen, and I’d like to hope that everything happens for a reason. Maybe there is a bigger fight for me out there.”
If by some act of God Overeem pulls out of the Junior dos Santos fight, I would be very happy. I want to fight JDS.”
